If you have an ASUS WiFi USB adapter, it should be working flawlessly on Windows computer. However, when you want to use it on macOS, it is not that simple.

A driver is needed before using an ASUS wireless USB-A adapter. It is because, macOS does not come with a compatible Realtek wireless network driver.

If you are using a Macbook with macOS version outside 10.7-10.14, you are probably unable to install the official driver provided by ASUS.

With that said, I tried to install the official driver on a 2012 Macbook with macOS Big Sur and still not managed to do so.

Therefore, the only way is to install unofficial driver.

The unofficial driver I installed is developed by chris1111 and extremegrief1, released on Github. It supports every version of macOS since Big Sur.

I have been working on a Drupal website for several months. The environment is created with Lando, a cross platform development tool. It helps us to maintain the required environment for Drupal and to facilitate our custom development.

Error message

However, I faced a weird issue. After I had rebuilt the Docker images with Lando, the Drupal site returned an error message, saying that memcache extension is not found.

Drupal\memcache\MemcacheException: No Memcache extension found in 
Drupal\memcache\Driver\MemcacheDriverFactory->initialize() (line 172 of modules/contrib/memcache/src/Driver/MemcacheDriverFactory.php).

If I didn't configured the error logging level to verbose, it will only show a simple error message.

Steps to enable verbose error logging level

This greatly helps to debug and finding the culprit of problem. You need to add a parameter to settings.php or settings.local.php.

$config['system.logging']['error_level'] = 'verbose';

Don't include this config in production environment.

When did it happened?

It happened after our Drupal development project had been upgraded to PHP 8.

Solution

I upgraded my local Lando software version to 3.6.4 by following the guide provided by Lando team. It solved the problem flawlessly, without any additional config.

I followed the steps for Debian, as I am using Ubuntu 20.04.

Why?

I used APT package manager to install and upgrade Lando. However, that APT version was no longer being maintained. Therefore, my local Lando version was so outdated, 3.1.x, it did not supported PHP 8.

Conclusion

Remember to upgrade your development tools to latest version, before spending hours to search for solutions and rebuilding Docker images.

As a web developer, I adjust the DNS records for my domain names often, especially when it comes to server migration and downtime mitigation.

Modern DNS works efficiently through DNS caching mechanism, to reduce network and improve browser/application response time.

However, when you are changing the A record, DNS cache could be a trouble for you. Of course you can change the TTL (time-to-live) value of the record to a smaller value, to make the cache of DNS records expired in a shorter time.

But how about the client-side? We may clear DNS cache manually.

Time is precious, right? :D

How to clear DNS cache in Windows?

1. Press Win + X and then r on your keyboard
2. Enter ipconfig /flushdns in the prompt and then press Enter

Viola! It is very simple to clear DNS cache in Windows, and also in macOS and Linux.

Google Chrome has its own DNS caching pool. You can only clear it through an internal page.

1. Enter chrome://net-internals/#dns in Google Chrome address bar.
2. Press that only button.
3. Profit!

How to clear DNS cache in macOS, MacBook and iMac?

1. Start the terminal, in your own way (try to ask Siri to do so!)
2. Paste sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder;sudo killall mDNSResponderHelper;sudo dscacheutil -flushcache and then press Enter on your keyboard
3. Type your password and then press Enter
4. Done

How to clear DNS in Ubuntu?

1. Start the terminal, in your own hacker-style way!
2. Paste sudo systemd-resolve --flush-caches and then press Enter
3. Type your password and then press Enter
4. Done!

It is frustrating that some of packages returned to the "nearest" post office, even though I had been waiting at home to receive packages. Sometimes the postmen/postwomen ring the door bell when they have arrived my home; sometimes they don't and simply return the packages back to a post office.

The "nearest" post office is determined solely by the linear distance between your home and a post office. That would be perfectly make sense if you own a private car, then you will have little trouble to get there and pick up your packages. If you don't own a car, that's a bad news for you. The post office selected by the shortest linear distance might not be accessible on foot or taking a bus, which is true in my case.

To do so, you need the tracking number of package.

Go to the website of Canada Post, and enter your tracking number.

After that, you are able to view the status of the package, expected delivery date and its current location.

On the right hand side, you should be able to find a column named as Delivery Preference. That's the one we are looking for.

Clicking the blue button Select allows you to select where the package will be deal with, when it arrives your place.

By default, if there's no one answering when representative of Canada Post arrived, the package will be sent back to the nearest post office.

You may choose the options, either front door or garage would be a suitable choice if you live in a house. If you live in a condo or apartment, front desk or superintendent would be a wise choice.

Enter your email address afterwards. Remember to read, agree to the T&C and click that blue Submit button.

Once you save the delivery preference, it will show up on the delivery status page.

Then you can receive the package without the hustle!
